Asiatic Hawksbeard

Asiatic Hawksbeard is an annual with a short taproot that frequently survives winters. The plant has dandelion-like leaves that are long and narrow at the base and the edges are slightly lobed. The key to identification is the flower stalks that come up from the plant's center. Flowers are yellow to orange-yellow with five tiny teeth at the end of the outermost petals. This weed, which reproduces by seed, is occasionally a problem in lawns but is predominately found in landscape beds.
